Lars stepped off a plane in Sri Lanka in 1997 to intern in TV and ended up writing his Master’s thesis on the role of the internet for diasporas. Since then, he has been engaged with media development and access to information in Asia for over 20 years, working for the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and currently for International Media Support (IMS) as Asia programme director. Media and journalism startups are a core focus area of the IMS Asia team under Lars’ leadership.
